Not Your Basic Highlight Routine

I live for a good highlight. Obviously I’m addicted to the glow. Love feeling glow-y from the inside out, but I have a ton of fun with the glow on the outside. Like I always say, the glowy skin starts with just that— Your skincare routine, but here are my favorite trips and tricks to make your highlight POP!

Add highlighter to your favorite facial spray. I came up with this idea while I was using one of my favorite hair products, the Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine spray. It’s a hair oil that has little specks of gold shimmer in it. It’s not like your average glitter spray for the hair. This spray adds so much shine and reflect to your hair. I thought, why don’t I do this for my face? This is how I came up with one of my favorite #TGAbeautyfile tricks. We all have one highlighter that we’ve dropped and cried when it shattered, right? Well instead of praying every time that you open it that it doesn’t spill all over your bathroom counter, crush a portion of it up and add it to your fave face mist. I love adding highlighter to my rose water spray. Hydrate and glisten—yes, please. Spray it on your face, clavicle, shoulders and EVERYWHERE. Glow, baby, glow.

Apply liquid highlighter with a beauty blender before foundation. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good powder highlight, but I never want it to LOOK like I have a ton of product on. I’d rather trick people into thinking I glow as soon as I wake up. I love applying liquid highlighter (This is my current fave: Marc Jacobs Gel Highlighter). I apply it with a damp beauty blender to the highpoint of my cheek, center of my nose and above the outer portion of my brow bone. Remember, the trick is that we want to lift everything up and out— like free face lift.

Don’t be afraid to add oil into your make-up routine. We all love a good face serum when it comes to our skincare routine, but I always here women say, “I’m afraid my make-up will fall off of my face”. Adding oil makes you glow and keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. I love REN skincare for this. You can dab on their Beauty Shots to your make up throughout the day. I even love to mix my foundation with a drop of serum. It makes you look so luminous.

Thank you so much for your attention and now get to GLOWING.

I’d love to see your not so basic highlighting pictures— Share ‘em!
